Art21.org

Art21.org is PBS’s hub for highlighting contemporary artists through documentaries.  The new season premieres April 13^th, 2012.  Prior to the new 6th season premiere, there are 107 videos that give you an in-depth look into each artist’s history and process.  I like to scroll through and select a couple of artists I’ve never heard of that might look interesting and watch part or all of their videos.  There are some big names that are on the top of the art press junkets, like Ai Weiwei, Kara Walker, Jeff Koons and Cindy Sherman; there are other more established/older artists  that a Young Art Collector might not have heard of in recent press, like Richard Serra, Louise Bourgeois or Carrie Mae Weems.
